Privacy and local storage

Last updated: 3 November 2026. Rollgebra does not require an account or deliberately install advertising or analytics tracking in this release. It does store your game drafts and progress in your browser so your work is available the next time you visit.

What is stored on your device?

We use localStorage for puzzle attempts, best results, daily completion dates and the equations, sliders and conditions in draft tracks. Current storage identifiers include rollgebra.progress.v2 and legacy migration keys such as rollgebra.progress.v1 and rollgebra.draft.<puzzle-id>. These records persist until you delete them, clear browser data or your browser removes them. Other users of this device/browser profile may be able to see local progress.

Local storage is a browser storage technology subject to privacy and electronic communications rules. Its use supports the save/resume features you request; we do not treat this as a blanket exemption from applicable law.

How to access, export or remove data

Open Stats to export a JSON copy or select Reset app progress to delete Rollgebra progress and draft keys on this browser. Clearing browser site data also removes it. Currently there is no cloud account or server profile to export or delete.

What reaches the network?

When you visit the site, your browser communicates with Cloudflare to download the website and assets. Cloudflare and other network intermediaries may process IP addresses, timestamps, URLs, security events and technical request logs for delivery, abuse prevention and operations under their respective policies. We do not claim that every technical request is invisible to the hosting provider.

The interactive equation engine runs in your browser; equations are not intentionally submitted to a remote evaluation service. The maths editor uses the open-source MathLive library; any CDN or external asset requests that remain in an older build are noted separately in release documentation and are being replaced by same-origin assets.

Cookies, advertising and profiling

This version does not intentionally install third-party analytics, advertising tags or behavioural profiling. We do not use a login or server-side student ranking. Some security services or browser configurations may set their own technical cookies; review your browser's storage inspection to see what is present. If future features introduce accounts, analytics or advertising, this notice and the underlying data assessment must be updated first.

Children and school use

Rollgebra can be visited by people under 18, so data-minimising defaults matter. Do not enter personal information into equations or use the site to process students' confidential information. Schools should review the technical information and their own policies before deployment.

Operator and requests

The project has not published a verified legal operator address or functioning dedicated support mailbox yet. Consequently this page is a factual technical notice, not a completed legal privacy statement. A named responsible contact, retention for operational logs and any UK Children's Code/PECR assessment require operator confirmation and qualified review before wider institutional adoption.
